Many leading companies in India are not getting qualified candidates

According to the study, India’s technology sector will require more than 10 lakh professionals skilled in advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence in the next two to three years. The National Association of Software and Service Companies also called for increased educational facilities and training at the government level to produce qualified candidates. They also say that it is necessary to train half of the people currently working in the technology sector in areas such as cyber security, artificial intelligence and big data.

250 billion dollar business

The tech sector contributes $250 billion (roughly Rs. 20 lakh crore) to the Indian economy and employs around 55 lakh people. 7.5 percent of the country’s gross domestic product (GDP) comes from this sector. But statistics show that many leading companies in India are not getting qualified candidates. The problem is that the companies are not getting the candidates with the aptitude as per their requirement. There is also a threat of bright candidates moving abroad. This affects the ability of Indian companies to compete with international tech giants.

TCS needs 80,000 people

TCS, the country’s leading company, said last month that it could not fill 80,000 vacancies due to lack of qualified candidates. India’s largest construction company Larsen & Turbo (L&T) has also revealed that there is a shortage of 20,000 engineers for IT and related jobs, which is causing projects to not move forward.

According to the National Association of Software and Service Companies, problems in India’s education system are holding back the generation of qualified candidates. School-age learning methods are outdated. They also say that the colleges are not able to impart the practical knowledge required for the job sector.

Those who have studied too much will not have a job

Former Reserve Bank Governor Raghuram Rajan has warned that formal education graduates leaving without any job skills will seriously affect the economy of the country. The International Labor Organization has also warned that those with higher education are more likely to lose their jobs than those with no schooling. Experts in the field also warn that the younger generation can only hold their own if they acquire the skills required by the new job market along with schooling.
